As far as I know, it's true.  That takes some trust in Car and Driver to have only printed a true story, but I think that's a safe enough trust.  
As for generalizing about salesmen, point well taken.  However, I think that I am still wary of nearly all salesmen because their end goal is to get you to buy something to usually profit themselves.  And that definitely makes me cautious because it is very easy in that scenario for the salesman to not care at all about me and care very much about themselves.  Does that make sense?  Of course it's not hardly ever going to be true that a statement is true in EVERY case.  However, by the very nature of their profession, salesmen should not be trusted (at least not without a grain of salt and some due diligence).</description>
