Inconsiderate Actions

Tagged as: Aug 27

Does anyone else wish that people thought about others more? I can’t stand it when people think that their actions have no consequences for other people!

Sometimes people will do horrible and disgusting things. Sometimes they’ll even admit that it’s wrong. Sometimes, though, it goes beyond reason when they do horrible things, and justify themselves to others with the opinion that it won’t affect other people.

Spit out your gum? Yeah, it’ll get on people’s shoes (or even my car!). That is not a happy moment.

Throw your trash onto the street? Someone has to pick it up, and it most likely is not going to be your mother. It’s going to be some poor soul who has to clean up your mess.

These things? These are the least of the offenses. The world is full of them.

You are much too young, Derek, to be so jaded! lol. Sure, people are inconsiderate sometimes (and I get burned about it, too…especially chewing gum offenses!). The world is also full of people who do amazing acts of kindness. After that Share A Square project, I’m ready to look for the good.

Now, I want you to do me a favor: I want you to look around your world today and find one thing that is amazingly good. Maybe you could even post about it. I promise that if you practice that every day for just a few weeks, it will change the way you look at the world.

True, true. Well I will see what I can do about looking for the good a little bit more.

Yeah, I get a bit annoyed by people who are inconsiderate but like This Eclectic Life wrote - the world is also full of good people. I do think you find what you seek and while I see things like trash on the side of the road or (my current peeve) leaving grocery carts all over the neighborhood instead of returning them (I live near a supermarket and yeesh, those carts are pricey and it’s a shame that people leave them around - it’s a loss for the business if they can’t find ‘em). Sometimes I return them but it can be a hassle - sometimes it’ll be uphill and I have to cross a street. Do I tell people? No. I may have mentioned it here but when I’ve come across the carts on my run (they’ll be down the hill why I have no idea) I’ll wheel them about 3 blocks and just return them.

I figger there are lots of people out there just…doing things quietly.

Most people I know are considerate and caring - I’m usually surprised by rudeness. But..I’m not looking for it!

Well that’s definitely cool that you try to do a little good around! Hm I’m not so sure that I’m totally surprised by rudeness. That is, I’m not expecting it, but I also am not totally shocked when it comes around. I try to give people their fair shot. Sometimes they do well, sometimes not so much.
