wow. It's been so long since I last visited this site. I can't believe I found this again, then again, Had to refresh my memory on the differences.

I'd consider myself all 3 I suppose. :D

Compared with other definition sites, this is definitely different, so I can see how it would be confusing. I myself am from Michigan, and our definitions of nerd and geek are the opposite of what you have here. I personally like this page: http://www.wikihow.com/Tell-the-Difference-Between-Nerds-and-Geeks and find that I have both nerd and geek qualities, as I am obsessed with Star Wars, but I'm also a tech support guy, as well as other similarities between the two, but prefer to sum up my characteristics as being an overall geek.

Honestly, this article confused me when compared with other definition sites....u have done a great job in differentiating the distinct traits of the three species...but other sites suggest that "geek" fits the definition of the nerd characteristics u have depicted and vice versa....dork kinda remains the worst thing though....but i must say, superiority race between nerds and geeks still continues.....

Wow. That was extremely informative. Thanks for spelling it out for us! I think that I fall into all three categories. Though I often just say I'm tall, dark, and dorky.

BTW...the rap song with the line "Back to the matter at hand..." is from "Nothing but a G Thang" by Dr. Dre. What can I say? I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago.

My thinking has been that the only difference between a nerd and a geek is that the nerd knows stuff but won't bore you with it if you are not interested. The geek tells you anyway, just for fun.

[...] Would a geek or a nerd really label themselves as such? I know the definitions, but I happen to believe it is quite uncouth to anoint oneself to nerddom alone as it has [...]

Oh interesting! I hadn't even thought about differences between regions. That could very well be true. So I guess that I'll have to qualify this whole post by saying that I live on the west coast of the United States of America.

Of the 3, would you label yourself as any of them?
