Half Marathon
Tagged as: Oct 15This past weekend I completed the Long Beach half marathon. While it’s probably no big deal to some people, it was my first so it was a big deal to me.
Someday I want to run a marathon (some might say that it’s on my “bucket list”). I figured that a half marathon would be a good place to start off at since the most that I’d run previous to my training was a 10K.
So it’s done, now I just need to figure out when I want to spend $100 to run 26.2 miles. Oh how I relish the opportunity.
Good to see you are still running! Mud run this this weekend!
derek wong! i havnt logged on to my google reader for months! i’m glad to have run into your post.
i’m running the carlsbad half in jan! whoot! congrats on finishing. what was your time??
Hey Jennifer Shih! I feel like I haven’t had a chance to talk to you in some time. Although perhaps I will just respond to your comment now and try to see how you are through some other non-public means.
Anyways I actually ran even though my IT band was not at 100%. So I unfortunately didn’t run at my optimal pace. But that was good because I usually run faster than who I ran the race with. So it evened out. And I finished in 2:18. So not too bad, not awesome, though. What are your times like?
Hey Derek. Congrats on your Half! I hope you did not have any similar gashing wounds as the fated Mud Run, haha. We missed you last weekend, we had a brief memorial (does that only apply when someone dies? I hope not) in the form of, “Here is where Derek visited the medical team.” We avenged your injury, I hope you feel vindicated, haha.
Thanks for checking out my bloggy blog. I’ll add you to my sweet blogroll – you might need to upgrade your server to handle all the traffic that comes your way* Though my work blocks it, so I’ll do it later today, haha.
*This is unequivocally false
Running a half! Very cool. I keep thinking I am capable of a half and then wonder if I’m fooling myself. My company sponsors some runs or participates in them and there is some kinda half marathon (have to check)in February.
I had thought about running a marathon when I turned 40. Well that benchmark year has come and gone! I think that a marathon is still penciled in on my “bucket list.”
Yeah on the entry fees..I kinda don’t like spending money on fees. but..they usually go for charity…
Congratulations again. It was an accomplishment!
